Apple Launches 'AppleIntelligence' and Its Future Plans

TapTechNews July 1st news, Apple has launched a brand-new artificial intelligence service - AppleIntelligence at WWDC24 and plans to introduce a series of AI functions for iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

Today, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman disclosed in the latest installment of PowerOn real-time newsletter that Apple plans to introduce the AppleIntelligence function to the VisionPro head-mounted display, but will not introduce the relevant functions to the HomePod speaker.

Gurman said that AppleIntelligence requires the device to have sufficient RAM. The 16GB RAM equipped in the VisionPro head-mounted display is sufficient to run various summarization, writing tools, and the new version of Siri functions, but the HomePod/mini speaker only has 1GB RAM and simply cannot run the relevant AI model.

Looking forward to the future, Gurman believes that AppleIntelligence will become increasingly important for Apple and will gradually become a pillar of the company's business. AppleIntelligence should be updated more frequently than services such as iCloud, and at least the update magnitude will be on par with the company's hardware and system software products.

Also referring to the previous report of TapTechNews, although Apple's AppleIntelligence will still go online in the autumn of 2024, it will not include all the AI functions demonstrated at WWDC24. Therefore, when it is initially released, it will carry the label of preview version to indicate that it is still in the development stage. Some of the major missing functions include Siri understanding the device content, semantic indexing, allowing the artificial intelligence to control the device, and the screen perception function, and all these functions will go online sometime in 2025.
