BAIC Group and CATL to Reach Cooperation Agreement

TapTechNews June 18th, according to the report of CaiLian Press, BAIC Group will reach a strategic cooperation agreement with CATL.

Insiders disclosed that the two sides plan to cooperate in power battery supply, battery swap and the introduction of V2G technology, the joint development and application of new products of the CIIC integrated intelligent chassis.

In response to the above news, BAIC Group responded that, 'The two sides will make an official announcement today.'

TapTechNews note: CATL's skateboard chassis is also known as CIIC (CATLIntegratedIntelligentChassis), which is an electric chassis with high integration achieved through CTC (CelltoChassis) technology with battery / electric drive as the core.

CIIC integrates the battery, electric drive system, suspension, brakes and other components in advance on the chassis to form an independent functional area. Through the reserved electrical and vehicle body interfaces, the upper and lower vehicle bodies can be decoupled and separated, so that the upper vehicle body can be replaced according to the actual needs. It is expected to achieve mass production in the third quarter of this year.

In October 2022, CATL signed a global strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast. The two sides will cooperate on projects such as CIIC (CATL's integrated intelligent chassis) skateboard chassis.

In January 2023, Time Intelligent, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CATL, held a signing ceremony with Nezha Automobile in Shanghai. The two sides will cooperate on the CIIC (CATLIntegratedIntelligentChassis) integrated intelligent chassis project, and the first model equipped with CIIC will come out as soon as the end of 2024.
