European Smartphone Market Recovery in 2024 Q1
TapTechNews June 9th news, Canalys released the latest research report: In the first quarter of 2024, the European smartphone market warmed up. After 12 consecutive quarters of decline, it increased by 2% year-on-year to 33.1 million units, and it is expected to grow by 1% for the whole year.
In the first quarter of 2024, the European (excluding Russia) smartphone market resumed growth, and the shipment volume increased by 2% year-on-year to 33.1 million units. This is due to the alleviation of the macro economy and the arrival of the update cycle of the Android devices purchased during the epidemic.
Samsung topped the market first with the Galaxy S24 series and the upgraded low-end A series product portfolio, occupying 37% of the market share; Apple ranked second with a market share of 22%; Xiaomi, Motorola and Honor all ranked among the top five, with market share ratios of 16%, 6% and 3%, respectively.
Canalys analysis believes that due to Samsung's huge investment in Galaxy AI marketing, the share of the ultra-high-end in the European market has reached a new high, and smartphones with a price of $800 and above account for 32% of the shipment volume.
The shipment volume of the Samsung Galaxy S series in the European market increased by 58% year-on-year to 4.3 million units.
Although high-end products perform strongly, the average selling price only increased by 2% because the demand for cost-effective devices has picked up: The Samsung Galaxy A15, Redmi 13C and Redmi Note 13 4G are crucial to the recovery of the European mobile phone market.
Research data show that European consumers have a positive attitude towards AI mobile phones, and 40% of the respondents recognize that AI functions can enhance the experience of using smart phones.
TapTechNews noticed that the market shares of Motorola and Honor in the European market increased significantly year-on-year, and Honor has replaced TCL as the fifth largest in the European smartphone market in terms of shipment volume.
