India PC Market Sees Growth in 2024 Q1

According to the latest data released by market research firm IDC, the shipment volume of PCs (including desktops, laptops, and workstations) in India in the first quarter of 2024 was 3.07 million units, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year.

The year-on-year growth rates of desktops and workstations were 10.1% and 2.7%, respectively, while laptops decreased by 1.7%. Despite a decrease in demand for laptops, high-end laptops (over $1,000) still achieved a healthy growth of 21%.

HP

HP's market share in the first quarter of 2024 was 30.1%, ranking first in the commercial and consumer sectors with shares of 32.4% and 26.9%, respectively.

HP continued to maintain its leading position in desktops and laptops with market shares of 28.9% and 30.4%, respectively. However, due to a decrease in enterprise orders and consumer shipment delays, HP's shipment volume decreased by 8.8% year-on-year.

Dell

Dell Technologies had a market share of 17.5% in the first quarter of 2024, second only to HP. However, Dell performed well in both commercial and consumer sectors, with year-on-year growth rates of 32.1% and 20.7%, respectively.

Driven by government orders, Dell's commercial desktop shipments reached 155,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 54%, making it one of the best quarters for the commercial desktop market.

Acer

Acer Group ranked third with a market share of 15.4%. Acer Group showed excellent performance in the commercial markets for desktops and laptops, with year-on-year growth rates of 19.9% and 32.0%, respectively.

Driven by positive momentum in the electronics retail channel, the consumer market saw a year-on-year growth rate of 51.7%.

Lenovo

Lenovo ranked fourth with a market share of 15.1%, a 1.3% year-on-year decrease in the first quarter of 2024. In the consumer market, Lenovo ranked second with a share of 13.5%, just below HP, and fourth in the commercial market with a share of 16.3%.

The supplier performed poorly in the government market but showed good performance in the small and medium-sized enterprise market with a market share of 22%, second only to HP, with a year-on-year growth of 9.4%.

Asus

Asus ranked fifth with a market share of 5.9%, a year-on-year decrease of 8.3%. In the consumer laptop market, Asus led Lenovo with a share of 16.5%, ranking second.
