SK Hynix Unveils High-Performance SSD for Edge-Side AIPC

SK Hynix said: "The company took the lead in applying the '<strong>PCIe*5.0 x8 interface</strong>' technology to PCB01 to significantly improve the performance such as data processing speed. After HBM and other ultra-high-performance DRAMs, in the NAND flash memory solution, the company has successfully developed the product of the highest standard to lead the memory market for AI."

SK Hynix is conducting the verification of the new product with global PC customers, plans to start mass production after the verification is completed this year, and at the same time launch products for large customers and ordinary consumers.

In the solid-state drive products for PCs, the sequential read and write speeds of PCB01 reach 14GB/s and 12GB/s respectively. Compared with the previous generation product, the energy efficiency of PCB01 has increased by more than 30%, which can improve the stability of large-scale AI computing.

At the same time, SK Hynix applied the SLC cache (SLCCaching) technology on this product. This technology enables some NAND flash memory storage units to operate in the high-speed SLC mode.

TapTechNews note: NAND flash memories are divided into different specifications such as SLC (SingleLevelCell, 1 bit), MLC (MultiLevelCell, 2 bits), and TLC (TripleLevelCell, 3 bits) according to the number of bits of data stored in each storage unit (Cell). As the storage capacity increases, more data can be stored in the same area, but the speed and stability will be correspondingly reduced.

In addition, PCB01 is also equipped with a security function to protect personal information, and is equipped with a security solution trust root (ROT) to prevent external attacks and data forgery and篡改, while protecting the user's password.

SK Hynix PCB01 will offer three capacities of 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. An Hyun, vice president of SK Hynix NAND Flash Solution Committee (N-SCommittee), said: "This new product has significantly improved performance compared to the previous generation. At present, several central processing unit companies for edge-side AIPC have proposed compatibility verification cooperation. The company plans to smoothly carry out the customer verification and mass production of this product to consolidate the leading position in the memory market for AI."
