Unicode 16 Test Review and New Emoticons for Apple and Other Platforms

TapTechNews May 22nd news, the Unicode characters on platforms such as Apple iOS, Android, and Windows are regularly updated according to the updates of the Unicode Consortium standards, and new emoji (emoji) emoticon symbols are added to devices such as iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

It is worth noting that major mobile phone manufacturers generally need several months to create corresponding images for new emoticons, so we may have to wait until the release of iOS 18 to see these new emoticons, and the expressions seen on different manufacturers and platforms may be different.

Taking Apple as an example, the last time Apple introduced new emoticons was in the iOS 17.4 update released in March 2024, including lime, edible brown mushroom, phoenix, broken chain, shaking head and nodding head. Based on this speculation, Apple may add the above new characters around March 2025 (the time point of the release of iOS 18.4).
