In the international high-end equipment manufacturing base in Qingdao, Shandong, a 'giant' weighing more than 17,000 tons, which is the largest oil and gas gathering and transportation platform under construction internationally at present. After 34 months of construction, it was officially delivered today and will take a large transport ship at the end of the month and set off to the sea area 6400 nautical miles away for installation.

It is reported that the Mazan oil and gas gathering and transportation platform is mainly responsible for gathering and transporting the extracted offshore oil and gas to the land for processing. It is composed of complex systems such as large manifolds, pipeline cleaning, chemical treatment, and operation control. The deck area of the platform is equivalent to 15 basketball courts, and the height is more than 24 stories. It is the central hub for oil and gas gathering and the 'throat' passage for external transportation in the entire oilfield group. It can gather and transport 24 million tons of crude oil and 7.4 billion cubic meters of associated gas annually, and its oil and gas transportation capacity ranks among the top in the world. The platform's scale and volume, pipeline type and size, and system complexity have all set records for similar international platforms. The prefabrication and overall installation of pipelines with super-large sizes and ultra-high wall thicknesses have brought huge challenges to the project.

The Mazan platform will be installed in the Saudi Arabian sea area and used for the production increase and development of the Mazan oilfield. By connecting important production and transportation facilities in the oilfield, it further helps the oilfield release production capacity. TapTechNews noticed that after the overall commissioning of the Mazan oilfield, the annual crude oil production will reach 24 million tons, and the output of this single offshore oilfield is equivalent to the annual crude oil production of China's Shengli Oilfield.
