Qualcomm's New Snapdragon X-series Chip SC8480XP in the Works

TapTechNews on October 1, it was reported that the German tech media WinFuture released a blog post yesterday (September 30), reporting that Qualcomm is developing a new Snapdragon X-series chip, SC8480XP, with the internal code name Project Glymur.

TapTechNews quoted the media report that in Qualcomm's plan, SC8480XP is the next-generation high-end Snapdragon X2 CPU, adopting the Arm architecture, focusing on mobility and energy efficiency, and will compete with Apple's M series after its launch.

It is reported that Qualcomm has been testing SC8480XP since July 2024, but there is still little information about the functions it possesses, and more information is expected to be unlocked and exposed until 2025.

An important advantage of Qualcomm's X-series chips is that they are fully compatible with Microsoft's Windows 11 AI+PC devices and support Microsoft's Auto Super Resolution (AutoSR) technology to use AI to improve the video quality and frame rate of existing games.

After the launch of Qualcomm's Snapdragon X series, the evaluations are mixed. Customers praise these new ARM processors for their excellent performance in power consumption efficiency and artificial intelligence functions; however, compared with AMD's Ryzen and Intel's Core X86 chips, these CPUs are lacking in performance, especially in multi-core tasks.
