Microsoft Terminates Support for Surface Studio 2; Surface Studio 2+ Support to Continue

TapTechNews October 5th news, the tech media NeoWin yesterday (October 4th) posted a blog post, reporting that Microsoft terminated support for the Surface Studio 2 this week, and will no longer push firmware and driver updates for it in the future.

TapTechNews note: Microsoft released the Surface Studio 2 on October 2, 2018. It has been 6 years since then, and it is the only Surface product that officially supports the Windows 11 system and is equipped with an Intel 7th-generation Core processor.

The Microsoft Surface Studio 2 is equipped with an Intel i7-7820HQ processor. In terms of display, the screen of the Surface Studio 2 has 13.5 million pixels, the brightness is increased by 38% (more than 500 nits) compared to the previous generation, and the contrast is increased by 22%, and it supports the 4096-level pressure sensitivity of the Surface Pen.

This product is equipped with a 28-inch PixelSense display with a resolution of 4500x3000 (192 PPI), an aspect ratio of 3:2, 10-point touch, and supports sRGB, DCI-P3, and Vivid color calibration.

The Surface Studio 2 is equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 video memory and GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 video memory based on the Pascal architecture.

The starting price of the Surface Studio 2 is 25,988 yuan, and it was launched in China in 2019. Microsoft later launched the Surface Studio 2+, which is equipped with a more powerful Intel i7-11370H processor, 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage, as well as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card, and the starting price is 35,888 yuan.

The Microsoft Surface Studio 2 stopped support on October 2, 2024 and will no longer provide any new features and patches; while the product support of the Surface Studio 2+ will continue until October 2, 2028.
