Porsche China Recalls 1,590 Imported Taycan Electric Vehicles Due to Fire Risk

TapTechNews, May 11 - Porsche (China) Automobile Sales Co., Ltd., in accordance with the 'Regulations on the Recall of Defective Auto Products' and its implementing rules, has officially filed a recall plan with the National Market Supervision Administration. Starting today, the recall will affect certain imported Taycan series electric vehicles manufactured between January 7, 2020, and December 15, 2023, totaling 1,590 vehicles.

This recall involves vehicles wherein the high-voltage power battery modules might short-circuit internally. Under extreme conditions, this could lead to thermal runaway of the battery module, posing a fire hazard.

TapTechNews learned from the announcement that Porsche (China) Automobile Sales will entrust authorized dealers to inspect the high-voltage power batteries of the vehicles included in the recall. If abnormalities are found, the faulty battery modules will be replaced free of charge to mitigate safety risks. Until the recall procedures are implemented, it is advised that users limit charging to no more than 80% capacity.
