Jaguar Land Rover China Recalls 113 Imported Jaguar I-PACE Electric Vehicles Due to Battery Fire Risk

TapTechNews reports on May 11th that Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd., in accordance with the 'Defective Automobile Product Recall Management Regulation' and its implementation methods, filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. The decision includes recalling certain imported 2019 Jaguar I-PACE electric vehicles produced between June 21, 2018, and October 2, 2018, totaling 113 units.

The vehicles subject to this recall may experience an internal short circuit in the battery cell due to manufacturing issues, leading to thermal overload. In extreme cases, this could result in a battery fire, posing a significant safety risk.

TapTechNews learned from the announcement that Jaguar Land Rover (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will offer two solutions to eliminate the safety hazard: a free replacement of the power battery pack or a vehicle buy-back option for affected customers. The vehicle buy-back is effective immediately, while replacement of the power battery pack is scheduled to start on November 1, 2024.
