SAIC General Motors' NOP Intelligent Pilot Assist System Goes Online in the US

TapTechNews July 15th news, TapTechNews learned from SAIC General Motors that SAIC General Motors' NOP Intelligent Pilot Assist Driving System officially went online on July 15th (today) and was pushed to Buick Century CENTURY MPV models (except for the seven-seat Zhenxiang version) through OTA.

The system is claimed to rely on Pan-Asia's self-developed advanced algorithm model and high-precision map to achieve L2+ level high-level assisted driving ability. Its applicable range has covered 348 domestic cities, and the usable mileage exceeds 400,000 miles, covering highways, viaducts, urban expressways and other road conditions.

According to the introduction, this system can complete the following actions:

Intelligent ramp merging and exiting: When entering and exiting the ramp entrance, accurately identify the surrounding vehicles and road conditions, and automatically complete the merging or exiting action, and control the speed to a reasonable range.

Intelligent intersection identification: When encountering a complex intersection, it will make lane prediction in advance and accurately enter the correct lane.

Intelligent avoidance at the merging entrance: It can predict the front merging entrance and intelligently change lanes to the adjacent lane in advance to avoid the merging vehicles.

Intelligent congestion stop and go: After NOP Intelligent Pilot Assist is activated, it can achieve automatic car following and automatic start and stop within the speed range of 0-130 km/h to reduce the sense of driving fatigue.

Intelligent lane change and overtaking: When encountering a slow vehicle ahead, NOP Intelligent Pilot Assist can automatically complete lane change and overtaking under the condition of ensuring safety, and can also change lanes based on the shift lever instruction of the driver.

Intelligent active avoidance: When it is detected that a large vehicle is approaching in the adjacent lane or there is a curb, it will make appropriate active avoidance to ensure driving safety.

Intelligent speed adjustment: Intelligent speed adjustment according to the speed limit information provided by the navigation map, etc., while ensuring the traffic efficiency and reducing the risk of overspeed.

After the end of the pilot section, the system can seamlessly enter the LCC assist function according to the actual road conditions.
