Modified Tesla Model 3 Test Car Spotted with Unique Camera System

TapTechNews reader Aaron212 recently submitted handwritten clues! TapTechNews reported on May 15th that a modified Tesla Model 3 test car was spotted in Palo Alto, California. Photos circulating on the social media platform X show that this new Model 3 has removed the traditional side mirrors and replaced them with a unique camera system. It is easy to identify this modified Model 3 from its appearance, as it is equipped with two cameras inside the car. Upon closer inspection of the photos, it can be seen that the cameras on the front fenders of the new Model 3 have been adjusted, and the position of the trunk camera has been raised. The most eye-catching feature is the two cameras installed inside the car, located just behind the driver's seat, seemingly allowing the driver to observe the rear road conditions through the rear window. Tesla has not provided an explanation for this test car on social media yet. Some speculate that the layout of the cameras inside the car may be a reference to the upcoming Robotaxi self-driving rental car 'Cybercab.' Considering that the size of the upcoming 'Cybercab' will be smaller than the new Model 3, this speculation seems reasonable. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has previously announced that the Robotaxi 'Cybercab' will be unveiled at an event on August 8, 2024. According to a report from Securities Times, Xu Baoqiang, general manager of Baidu's autonomous driving technology department, stated that Baidu will consider possible cooperation opportunities based on Tesla's specific application models and the pace of entering the Chinese market for the Robotaxi to be introduced by Tesla.
