Kelly Day told the Financial Times today that the PrimeVideo with ads initially only had very light amount of ads, thus providing subscribers with a gentle way to enter the advertising field and exceeded customers' expectations in terms of advertising experience.

She pointed out that the PrimeVideo with ads will not play ads in the middle of the video, but this situation may change next year. Allegedly, Amazon is preparing to add shopping ads to PrimeVideo in 2025, which may include forms such as carousel ads, pause ads, and brand trivia ads.

At least so far, the operation of adding ads has not caused damage to the PrimeVideo business. According to Kelly Day, the situation of users leaving due to ads is much less than we expected. Amazon said that PrimeVideo has 200 million monthly active users, and the number of subscription users has not significantly decreased since the addition of ads.
