Audi Partners with Microsoft, to Connect 2 Million Cars to ChatGPT in July

TapTechNews June 28th news, Audi yesterday (June 27th) released a press release, announcing a cooperation with Microsoft through the Azure OpenAI service, and will start to connect about 2 million cars to ChatGPT in July this year to enhance the vehicle's voice control ability.

According to Audi's press release cited by TapTechNews, after the Audi models produced since 2021 and equipped with the third-generation modular infotainment system (MIB3) are connected to ChatGPT, car owners will be able to interact with their cars using natural language and listen to the information they want to know during the driving process.

New cars such as the Q6 e-tron and future models equipped with the E31.2 electronic architecture will be extended as Audi Assistant (Audiassistant) and connected to ChatGPT through Cerence ChatPro.

In addition to controlling the infotainment, navigation and air conditioning systems by voice, Audi owners can now also ask some common sense questions. Car owners can say Hey, Audi (Hey Audi) or use the push-to-talk button on the steering wheel to invoke ChatGPT.

The brand-new Audi Assistant supported by ChatGPT can automatically recognize whether a vehicle function (such as turning on the air conditioning) should be executed or whether the query should be forwarded to ChatGPT to answer common sense questions.

In terms of privacy, Audi claims that all questions and answers will be deleted after processing. In the future, Audi users will be able to ask more complex automotive questions, such as asking about the correct tire pressure of the car.
