Dongfang Electric's 18-Megawatt Offshore Wind Turbine Generator Sets New Record

TapTechNews June 28th, according to the WeChat account of Dongfang Electric Group, yesterday (June 27th), it announced in a blog post that its independently developed 18-megawatt semi-direct-drive offshore wind turbine generator successfully grid-connected at 11:30 PM on June 26th at the Linhai Test Base for Shantou Wind Power in Guangdong Province, once again refreshing the world record for the largest single-unit capacity of grid-connected wind turbine generators.

TapTechNews quoted the original report. This is the world's first 18-megawatt offshore wind turbine generator. The component-level localization rate of this generator is 100%. It has a large single-unit capacity, and the average annual power generation can reach 72 million kilowatt-hours, which can meet the electricity consumption of about 40,000 households for a year.

The blade of this offshore wind turbine generator is 126 meters long. It uses a self-developed large-thickness, blunt-trailing-edge, high-performance airfoil, and adopts the third-generation fully integrated drive train to fully reduce the weight and size of the nacelle, and uses a medium-speed gearbox and a medium-speed permanent magnet generator. The component efficiency is as high as 98%.

The blade, drive train and other key components of this offshore wind turbine generator have all completed test and verification. The back-to-back type test shows that it has excellent electrical performance, low vibration, low noise, low harmonic, and uniform temperature rise.
