TapTechNews May 23rd news, Mercedes-AMG company released the first concept model of its limited and high-priced Mythos series on Wednesday, named PureSpeed, which is a convertible two-seater sports car inspired by the company's iconic retro racing cars and F1 racing cars.

Although Mercedes didn't explicitly say so, PureSpeed is obviously based on the company's SL convertible and adopts the same headlights and taillights. The front bumper abandons the traditional Mercedes grille and adopts a streamlined shark-nose design without a grille, and the lower grille is decorated with a white-painted AMG logo.

Similar to F1 racing cars, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed concept car adopts an open cockpit and two-seater sports car design. Like F1 racing cars, this car has no roof, windshield, or side window glass. There is a HALO protection device originated from F1 in the middle position between the main and co-drivers, and both the main and co-drivers will have exclusive helmets optimized for aerodynamics.

TapTechNews noticed that other parts of PureSpeed draw on the design concept of the Mercedes-AMG One supercar, and the lower part of the body adopts a carbon fiber aerodynamic kit to improve the aerodynamic performance. The carbon fiber wheel housings are also to improve the aerodynamic efficiency, optimize the airflow around the wheels and improve brake cooling.

Mercedes did not disclose the details of the PureSpeed's powertrain at the press conference, but it is guessed that it will be equipped with the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine of the SL63.

PureSpeed is only limited to 250 units in production, and Mercedes said it is only available to the most avid Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts and collectors. Currently, the official has not announced the price of this car.
