Postal Industry Update 2024 First Half Results in the US

TapTechNews July 15th news, the State Post Bureau announced the operation situation of the postal industry in the first half of 2024 today. In the first half of the year, the cumulative volume of postal delivery services in the postal industry reached 89.42 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 20.5%. Among them, the cumulative volume of express delivery services reached 80.16 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 23.1% (calculated on a comparable basis, the same below).

In the first half of the year, the cumulative volume of intra-city express delivery services was 7.42 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 20.6%; the cumulative volume of inter-city express delivery services was 71.09 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 23.4%; the cumulative volume of international/hong kong, macau and Taiwan express delivery services was 1.65 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 21.0%.

In the first half of the year, the cumulative number of postal letters was 490 million, with a year-on-year increase of 7.3%; the cumulative number of parcel services was 13.83 million, with a year-on-year increase of 54.8%; the cumulative number of newspaper services was 8.42 billion copies, with a year-on-year increase of 1.7%; the cumulative number of magazine services was 320 million copies, with a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%; the cumulative number of exchange services was 1.434 million, with a year-on-year decrease of 20.8%.

In the first half of the year, the business income of the postal industry (excluding the direct operating income of Postal Savings Bank) cumulatively reached 806.36 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 10.6%. Among them, the cumulative income of express delivery services reached 653 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 15.1%.

In June, the delivery volume of the postal industry was 16.12 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 15.8%. Among them, the express delivery volume was 14.57 billion pieces, with a year-on-year increase of 17.7%.

In June, the business income of the postal industry was 140.72 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 6.3%. Among them, the express delivery income was 115.89 billion yuan, with a year-on-year increase of 8.6%.

In the first half of the year, the proportions of intra-city, inter-city and international/hong kong, macau and Taiwan express delivery services in all express delivery services were 9.3%, 88.7% and 2.0% respectively. Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of intra-city express delivery services decreased by 0.1 percentage point, the proportion of inter-city express delivery services increased by 0.2 percentage points, and the proportion of international/hong kong, macau and Taiwan express delivery services decreased by 0.1 percentage point.

In the first half of the year, the proportions of express delivery services in the eastern, central and western regions were 73.0%, 18.5% and 8.5% respectively, and the proportions of business income were 74.8%, 15.0% and 10.2% respectively.

Compared with the same period last year, the proportion of express delivery services in the eastern region decreased by 2.2 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery income decr eased by 1.3 percentage points;

the proportion of express delivery services in the central region increased by 1.3 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery income increased by 0.7 percentage points;

the proportion of express delivery services in the western region increased by 0.9 percentage points, and the proportion of express delivery income increased by 0.6 percentage points.

In the first half of the year, the concentration index CR8 of express and parcel service brands was 85.3, which increased by 0.1 compared with that from January to May.
