The bike includes two models: Extreme and Sport. McLaren claims that both of these cars are currently the most powerful legal electric mountain bikes on the market.

In the past, we often saw car manufacturers cooperate with bicycle brands to launch new cars, but McLaren's new electric bike is completely independently developed and designed. The design team of the Extreme and Sport bikes is exactly the team that previously built the McLaren Artura hybrid supercar. Although there are big differences in design between supercars and bicycles, these two electric bikes still retain McLaren's signature design elements, such as carbon fiber frames and a large amount of orange decoration. Compared with some rougher electric mountain bikes on the market, the appearance of Extreme and Sport does not seem bulky.

The highlight of these two bikes is their custom-tuned mid-mounted motor. The flagship versions of both Extreme and Sport are equipped with this motor, which can provide a rated power of 600 watts, a peak power of 852 watts, and a torque of 161 Newton-meters. This performance index makes it the most powerful electric bike motor on the market currently, and can allow the pure electric drive top speed of these two bikes to reach 20 miles per hour. Admittedly, this speed is much slower compared to the Artura with a top speed of up to 205 miles per hour, but it is already very fast for electric bikes. If you think the 600-watt power is a bit excessive, these two models also offer a motor version with a power of 250 watts for selection.

Extreme and Sport look very similar, but in fact there are also some key differences. Both models can meet various riding conditions such as roads and mountains, but Extreme is equipped with a full suspension system and is more suitable for off-road riding. While Sport focuses more on versatility and lightweight design. No matter which model is chosen, it will be equipped with an integrated handlebar display (the graphic interface design of the display is inspired by the supercar cockpit), five riding modes, and a set of Pirelli all-terrain tires.

Currently, these two limited-release electric mountain bikes have been on sale on McLaren's official website. The price range of Sport is from $79,500 (TapTechNews note: currently about 575,000 yuan) to $89,500 (currently about 647,000 yuan), and the price range of Extreme is from $109,500 (currently about 792,000 yuan) to $119,500 (currently about 864,000 yuan).
