Gaoming Modern Tram in Foshan to Undergo Maintenance, Suspending Operation

TapTechNews August 12th news, the Gaoming Modern Tram officials announced in a document on August 5th that the Gaoming Modern Tram Demonstration Line in Foshan City, Guangdong Province will arrange for the inspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities starting from August 6th, and operation will be suspended during the maintenance period.

TapTechNews found out that the Gaoming Modern Tram Demonstration Line is the first urban rail transit project independently constructed and operated by Foshan City, and it is also the world's first hydrogen energy tram in commercial operation. It started operation in December 2019 and runs between Cangjiang Road and Zhihu, and is actually operated by Foshan City Gaoming Modern Rail Transit Construction Investment Co., Ltd. The total investment of this project is 838 million yuan ($120 million), with a total length of about 6.5 kilometers (about 4 miles).

According to the 2023 Departmental Budget of the Foshan City Gaoming District Transportation Bureau, the first-phase project of the tram as a key project expenditure of the department is 145 million yuan ($20.5 million), including the project's feasible gap subsidy and the cost of the passenger flow check and regular audit and other related work that the Party A needs to carry out according to the contract..
