From Cantonese to Qʼeqchiʼ, these languages cover more than 614 million users, accounting for about 8% of the world's population. Some of them are major world languages with over 100 million users, while others are used by small indigenous communities, and there are some languages that have few native speakers but are undergoing a revival effort.

Through Google's PaLM2 large language model, Google Translate will add 110 new languages, which is the largest expansion in its history. Before this, Google announced the 1000 Languages Project in 2022, committed to building artificial intelligence models that support the 1000 most commonly used languages in the world.

Google said it will continue to work with professional linguists and native speakers, and as technology progresses and over time, Google Translate will support more languages.
