The First 50G PON + FTTR All-Optical Campus Dormitory Network in China
TapTechNews June 6th news, according to the official news of Huawei, recently, China Mobile Hubei Branch (hereinafter referred to as Hubei Mobile) joined hands with Huawei to complete the first national all-optical campus dormitory network coverage project based on 50G PON (Passive Optical Network) + FTTR (Fiber to The Room) technology in Hankexueyuan, Yangtze University, located in Jingzhou, Hubei Province.
Yangtze University's East Campus is located in Jingzhou, Hubei. This project covers a total of 5 dormitory buildings. This area used to adopt the Jingzhou Mobile campus 100-megabit broadband before. With the upgrade of campus informatization and digitization, in order to better meet the experience needs of students and faculty for ultra-high-speed and stable network, the school adopts the brand-new 50G PON technology + FTTR all-optical networking solution provided by Jingzhou Mobile for network upgrade to realize all-optical 10,000-megabit access in 800 dormitories.
According to the introduction, the key to this network upgrade lies in the introduction of 50G PON technology. As one of the key technologies of F5G-A, it has a higher data transfer rate. In recent years, the Hubei Mobile Planning Technology Department, in conjunction with Huawei, has carried out verification and exploration on a series of technical indicators such as bandwidth, delay, jitter, concurrency, interference, and compatibility in the three-mode coexistence scenario of 50G PON, XG-PON, and GPON. This project achieved the first practical implementation.
According to TapTechNews' report in March this year, the world's first 10,000-megabit cloud broadband demonstration community based on 50G-PON in F5G-A landed in保利 Tianhui Community, Yangpu District, Shanghai. Taking a 2-hour long 8K movie as an example, the file size is about 90GB. If it is downloaded with 10,000-megabit cloud broadband, it only takes about 72 seconds.
On May 17, China Telecom Shaanxi Company held the double 10,000-megabit network Northwest debut and the all-optical digital intelligence benefit people's livelihood action event, marking that Shaanxi Province took the lead in entering the 5G-A wireless + F5G-A wired double 10,000-megabit new era in the Northwest region. Shaanxi Telecom has already possessed the ability to open 10,000-megabit parks and 10,000-megabit enterprises in the whole province.
Earlier this month, China United Network Communications Co., Ltd. Zhejiang Branch officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Ningbo Institute of Artificial Intelligence in the direction of 10,000-megabit commercial enterprises in May, and the first 10,000-megabit commercial building officially landed in Ningbo, Zhejiang.
