TikTok Deals with Cyberattacks and US Act

TapTechNews June 5th news, a spokesperson for the short-video app TikTok said on Tuesday that the company has taken measures to prevent cyberattacks targeting multiple brands and celebrity accounts, including CNN of the US Cable News Network.

According to Forbes, there is a new vulnerability on the TikTok platform, which spreads through direct messages and requires no download, click or any form of reply other than opening a chat.

The TikTok spokesperson said, We have been working closely with CNN, have restored account access and implemented enhanced security measures, and protected their accounts. The number of compromised accounts is very small, and the company is working with the owners of the affected accounts to restore access rights when needed.

A source from TikTok told Reuters that the account of reality TV star Paris Hilton was targeted but not damaged.

TapTechNews noted that it is not just CNN, a news broadcaster, that has had cyber security problems recently. Earlier this month, the personal data of more than 25,000 BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) employees was leaked, while the official denied the existence of a ransomware attack.

TikTok is currently not only dealing with cyberattacks but also dealing with the impact of the new US act. The US president signed the act on April 24, stipulating that ByteDance sell TikTok by January 19 next year, or else it will face a ban. The US court will hear the lawsuit against the TikTok ban in September.
