Mercedes-Benz to Recall Thousands of Vehicles Due to Software Glitch

TapTechNews June 21 - Recently, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automotive Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the Regulation on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products and the Implementing Measures of the Regulation on the Management of Recalled Defective Automobile Products, and plan to recall the following vehicles.

Starting from June 21, 2024, recall:

Some imported EQSSUV vehicles produced between November 28, 2023 and February 7, 2024, a total of 39 vehicles.

Some domestic EQESUV vehicles produced between November 1, 2023 and April 25, 2024, a total of 2341 vehicles.

Within the scope of this recall, due to a software deviation, the high-voltage battery management system cannot handle the diagnostic requests of some control units, which may cause the high-voltage battery to lose power and the vehicle to lose power while driving, presenting a potential safety hazard.

Learned from the recall announcement by TapTechNews, Mercedes-Benz (China) Automotive Sales Co., Ltd. and Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. will, through authorized Mercedes-Benz dealers, upgrade the software of the control unit of the high-voltage battery management system for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.
