35,000-Cubic-Meter Giant Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger A Breakthrough in China's Dredging Industry

Recently, the 35,000-cubic-meter giant trailing suction hopper dredger supervision team cooperated with the surveyors of the China Classification Society (CCS) to jointly complete the inspection work of the CB14P section structure of the 35,000-cubic-meter giant trailing suction hopper dredger project, marking that the first key structural section of this ship passed the quality acceptance.
It is introduced that the 35,000-cubic-meter giant trailing suction hopper dredger is the first domestically initiated and built trailing suction large-scale dredging equipment. The maximum mud tank capacity reaches 35,000 cubic meters and can adapt to the off-shore operation requirements of 'large dredging depth, strong破土, long hauling distance, and long blowing distance'. It is suitable for construction operation scenarios such as harbor and waterway dredging, deep-sea sand extraction, land reclamation by blowing and filling, and trench excavation and backfilling. It is expected to be completed and delivered in the first half of 2026 and will become the largest trailing suction hopper dredger in Asia after completion, which has a milestone significance in leading the global trailing suction hopper dredger to develop towards large-scale.
According to China News Network, this ship is researched and designed by the 708th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation. The total length is about 195 meters, the molded width is 38.5 meters, the molded depth is 18.0 meters, and the dredging draft is 13 meters. The maximum mud tank capacity is about 35,000 cubic meters, and the maximum dredging depth is 120 meters. It adopts a steel welded, bulbous bow, twin-rudder fin ship type and an advanced 'one-towing-two' compound drive mode, and is equipped with twin导管 propellers, twin rakes, twin underwater pumps, and in-tank pumps.
This ship has the operation functions of single and double-rake dredging and loading, mud gate unloading, single and double-pump bow blowing and double-bow jetting to the shore, as well as an intelligent dredging control system and reserved methanol fuel usage capacity.
