China Eastern Airlines' 7th C919 Joins Fleet, Boosting Domestic Aviation

TapTechNews July 29th news, the 7th C919 aircraft of China Eastern Airlines, B-919H (MSN00013), officially joined the China Eastern Airlines fleet and will execute flight MU9006 from Pudong to Hongqiao.

This is the 3rd C919 aircraft delivered this year and also the 7th C919 cumulatively delivered since December 9, 2022.

With this additional aircraft, China Eastern Airlines currently has 7 domestic C919 large aircraft and has opened 4 commercial regular routes such as Shanghai Hongqiao to Chengdu Tianfu, Beijing Daxing, Xi'an Xianyang, and Guangzhou Baiyun.

China Eastern Airlines stated that since the summer transportation season this year (from July 1 to July 21), the C919 fleet of China Eastern Airlines has operated a total of 366 flights, transporting more than 49,000 passengers, with an average seat occupancy rate of 86%.

The C919 large passenger aircraft of COMAC is China's first jet trunk airliner independently developed in accordance with internationally prevailing airworthiness standards and with independent intellectual property rights. With a seating capacity of 158 to 192 seats and a range of 4075 to 5555 kilometers (about 2532 to 3445 miles), it is specifically designed for medium and short-haul routes and can meet the operational needs of airlines for different routes.

C919 was completed and rolled out on November 2, 2015, successfully made its first flight on May 5, 2017, obtained the type certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on September 29, 2022, and was the world's first delivery on December 9, 2022.

On May 28, 2023, the domestic large aircraft C919 officially completed its first commercial passenger flight, thus breaking the monopoly pattern. Through the design and development of C919, China has mastered more than 6000 civil aircraft technologies in 5 major categories and 20 specialties of the civil aircraft industry.

Referring to the previous report of TapTechNews, China Eastern Airlines officially signed the first batch of 5 C919 aircraft purchase contracts in March 2021 and became the world's first airline to operate domestic large aircraft. China Eastern Airlines signed the C919 Aircraft Purchase Agreement again on September 28, 2023, purchasing 100 C919 aircraft from COMAC, and this batch of 100 aircraft is planned to be delivered to China Eastern Airlines in batches from 2024 to 2031.
