Tesla Updates FSD and Future Outlook

TapTechNews June 6, Tesla is pushing the latest FSD v12.4.1 to its employees and plans to open it to a "small number of external users" for testing this weekend. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also hinted that as future FSD versions continue to improve, "once known problems are resolved, users may not encounter a situation where they need to take over the vehicle even once in a year."

This update comes right before Tesla's upcoming Robotaxi conference on August 8, which can be seen as a warm-up for the upcoming self-driving taxi service. However, the continuous update of functions also means that people's expectations are rising. Musk is well aware of this and said on social media that this new version contains "a lot of changes" and "could be said" to be called v13.

In Tesla's past practice, the base version number (such as 12 in this case) is upgraded only when there is a major update to the FSD system, so Musk's remarks imply that this version has significantly more changes compared to the past. Nevertheless, we still have to wait for the owners who actually use this version to share their experiences.

TapTechNews noted that in addition to having high hopes for v12.4.1, Musk also said that the future versions 12.5 and 12.6 might eventually be renamed to v14 and v15, suggesting that future versions will be even more powerful.

It should be noted that since 2016, Musk has stated every year that Tesla will solve the self-driving problem by the end of the year, but none of them have come true in the end.
