TapTechNews June 6, Nothing released the Nothing Phone(2) last July. As usual, consumers expect its successor to be released soon. However, Carl Pei, the founder and CEO of Nothing, announced a surprising news today: the Nothing Phone(3) will be postponed until 2025.

TapTechNews noticed that this breaks the convention of high-end smartphones being updated once a year, and it makes people in the industry curious. The reason why Nothing chose to postpone the release is - artificial intelligence (AI).

Carl Pei said that unlike most manufacturers today who are keen to promote various AI functions, Nothing will not release a new phone next month and tout its AI features. Instead, they choose to spend more time to redefine the user interface and integrate AI at the smartphone system level to bring a highly personalized and dynamic user experience.

Carl Pei mentioned the concept of the post-application era many times in the video, which sounds as marketing-oriented as artificial intelligence, and is also in contradiction to Pei's previous allusion to competitors who blindly pursue artificial intelligence. Carl Pei said that Nothing hopes to build a bridge between today's application-dominated world and the future post-application era.

GsmArena said that speculation outside suggests that Nothing's postponement of the release of Phone(3) may be related to its poor sales of Phone(2). In contrast, the mid-range model Nothing Phone(2a) seems to be more successful, so Nothing doesn't want to risk launching Phone(3) which may follow in the footsteps of Phone(2).
