Microsoft Updates USB4 Solution in Windows 11

TapTechNews June 6th news, Microsoft updated the official support documentation yesterday, detailing the solution for "USB4 device functionality may be limited" in the Windows 11 system.

USB4 based on Intel's Thunderbolt technology was released in March 2019, and the new revised specification was released in the same year in September, but it takes time to adopt new technologies, and Windows is no exception.

Microsoft released the KB5026446 update in May 2023, adding a dedicated settings page for USB4 devices in Windows 11 22H2 (Build 22621.1778) under the "Bluetooth and Devices" section.

Officials said the reasons that may cause this problem are as follows:

User devices or docks support USB4, but are plugged into computer ports that do not support USB4. The attached device may have functional limitations and is not using USB4.

The user is using a cable that does not support USB4.

The user connects the USB4 device or dock to a dock that does not support USB4.

Officials said the solutions that users can try are as follows:

Make sure the computer supports USB4 to get the best experience from the attached USB4 device or dock.

Be sure to use the cable provided by the device or dock manufacturer or an approved USB4 cable.

Connect the USB4 device or dock directly to the computer or only to the USB4 dock.
