Lamborghini's New Huracán Successor with Powerful V8 Engine and Plug-in Hybrid System

TapTechNews May 20th news, the successor model of Lamborghini Huracán will be equipped with one of the most powerful and highest-revving V8 engines ever installed in a production car. The new car, code-named 634, will become a competitor of Ferrari 296GTB and will be released in August this year and go on the market at the end of the year.

The car will adopt a plug-in hybrid system, and the core part is a 4.0-liter V8 engine with twin turbochargers. Its maximum speed is 10,000 rpm, and the specific power is as high as 200 horsepower per liter. Under 9000-9750 rpm, it can burst out a maximum power of 800 horsepower, which far exceeds the output power of Huracán's naturally aspirated V10 engine (even the most powerful STO version). Thanks to the boost of the electric motor, the new car can reach a maximum torque of 730 Nm at 4000-7000 rpm.

Lamborghini said, This speed value is usually only seen on racing engines. In fact, this will make it the highest-revving V8 engine among all current production cars. Only a few road supercars - including Mercedes-AMG One, GMAT50, and Aston Martin Valkyrie, have engines with faster speeds.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine used by Lamborghini Urus is also shared with Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Audi RS models and was developed by Audi, while the power unit of 634 is said to be completely newly developed and completed independently in Sant'Agata.

TapTechNews noticed that the official has also made a special tuning for the new car's sound. As the V8 engine's speed climbs, the sound characteristics also increase and reach the peak of volume and frequency at high speeds, coordinating with the vibration transmitted from the crankshaft to the chassis to create an all-round sensory experience.

In addition, the rear electric power system designed and developed specifically for the new V8 engine is located between the engine and the dual-clutch gearbox, including the inverter and the axial drive motor. This system can generate a maximum power of 110 kW and a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 3500 rpm, while also ensuring a compact size and light weight.

Switching to a plug-in hybrid system will have a significant impact on the dynamic performance of the Huracán successor. Compared to ordinary fuel vehicles, the overall performance of this system is much better, Federico Foschini, head of sales and marketing at Lamborghini, told Autocar, It has characteristics that cannot be achieved without an electric motor (such as active torque vector control); it allows you to bring out more potential of the engine.

In terms of appearance, the new car will clearly draw on the design elements of the flagship model Revuelto, with an exaggerated contour, in line with the spaceship concept of design director Mitja Borkert, as well as a series of elements that have become the hallmarks of Lamborghini, including huge hexagonal exhaust pipes, Y-shaped LED light designs, and air ducts running through the body to increase downforce.

Lamborghini will manufacture the Huracán successor on the same production line as Revuelto, which will be the first time the brand mass-produces two supercars on the same production line, thanks to the sharing of the main architecture and electrical components.
