Amazon and Crystal Dynamics to Collaborate on 'Tomb Raider' TV Series and Video Game

TapTechNews May 15 news, Amazon and Crystal Dynamics announced yesterday local time, confirming the media rumors from last year that Amazon Prime Video will be ordering a live-action series based on 'Tomb Raider'.

The 'Tomb Raider' live-action series will be co-produced by Crystal Dynamics, the IP holder of 'Tomb Raider', and Amazon Studios.

The series will be written and executive produced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

TapTechNews found that Waller-Bridge is most well-known for her work on the TV series 'Fleabag', where she served as the lead actress, writer, and producer, winning the 2019 Emmy Award for Best Actress, and the show also won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series that year.

In the action genre, Waller-Bridge also recently worked as a writer on the movie 'No Time to Die', a part of the '007' franchise.

Crystal Dynamics and Amazon's collaboration on the 'Tomb Raider' IP goes beyond the TV series, as they have also reached a partnership agreement for a new 'Tomb Raider' single-player narrative-driven adventure game to be released by the end of 2022.

This yet-to-be-named 'Tomb Raider' game will be developed using the Unreal Engine 5 by Crystal Dynamics, with support and publishing services provided by Amazon's gaming division.
