Google and HP Partner to Commercialize Holographic Video Chat Technology Project Starline

TapTechNews May 13 News, Google announced today through a press release that it will commercialize the holographic video chat technology Project Starline in collaboration with HP starting in 2025.

Google said that Project Starline is a groundbreaking technology project that allows friends, family, and colleagues to feel close to each other at any distance. The project uses advanced AI, 3D imaging, and other technologies to make users feel like they are in the same room with each other during calls.

In the future, this technology will move out of the lab and will be available in video conferencing services such as Google Meet or Zoom starting next year. Alex Cho, President of HP Personal Systems, said, More than half of the meaning and intent is conveyed through body language rather than pure language. Immersive collaboration experiences play a crucial role in creating real human connections in mixed environments.

TapTechNews Note: At Google I/O conference in May 2021, Google showcased this cutting-edge technology. Google previously stated that Project Starline has been in development for several years and is based on a large amount of computer vision, machine learning, spatial audio, and data compression technologies. Google has also developed a groundbreaking light field system for this, allowing people to feel realistic volume and depth without the need for glasses or headphones.
