Particle Launches Tachyon Single-Board Computer with Impressive Features

TapTechNews July 31st news, the IoT hardware company Particle launched a crowdfunding campaign for a single-board computer product named Tachyon. It has 4GB of memory and 64GB of UFS flash memory, and is compatible with the 40-pin GPIO interface of Raspberry Pi.

The board is only the size of a bank card and is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon QCM6490 processor, which can provide up to 12 TOPS of AI computing power and has built-in Wi-Fi 6E and 5G cellular network support. The crowdfunding price is $149 (TapTechNews note: currently about 1080 RMB).

For reference, the 4GB version of Raspberry Pi 5 costs $60 (currently about 435 RMB), and Particle Tachyon has more functions, but the price is also more than twice as expensive.

Particle positions Tachyon as a single-board computer for the Internet of Things or edge-to-cloud computing, supporting edge-side AI tasks (such as computer vision or machine learning applications), as well as Wi-Fi and cellular connections for easy communication with other devices in the cloud.
