First 'Heavenly Questions' Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest Announced
TapTechNews August 13th news, at the end of July, the press conference of the first 'Heavenly Questions' Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest, supported and guided by the China Writers' Association and hosted by the Chengdu Municipal People's Government, was held in Chengdu.
The first 'Heavenly Questions' Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest has the famous contemporary Chinese writer, scholar, former Minister of Culture, and recipient of the 'People's Artist' national honorary title, Wang Meng, serving as the honorary chairman of the organizing committee. At the same time, the contest established a jury committee with Alai, the vice chairman of the China Writers' Association, as the chairman, and Su Tong, a member of the presidium of the China Writers' Association, Liu Cixin, the director of the Science Fiction Literature Committee of the China Writers' Association, and relevant members of the World Science Fiction Association's Brand Protection Committee as vice chairmen, fully responsible for the selection of participating works.
According to the introduction, the 'Heavenly Questions' Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest has nine regular awards, with a maximum reward of 500,000 yuan (about 71,400 US dollars) depending on the difficulty level, and the total bonus amount exceeds one million yuan.
Six literary project categories, including the best long science fiction, the best medium-length science fiction, the best short science fiction, the best science fiction film and television script, the best science fiction game script, and the best science fiction comic work;
Three institutional and individual categories, including the best science fiction literature institution, the best new science fiction writer, and the best young science fiction writer.
In addition, each session of the 'Heavenly Questions' Chinese Science Fiction Literature Contest will also set up individual event projects according to the needs of the development of science fiction literature. The proposed special event project for the first session is 'Ten Most Popular Translated and Introduced Science Fiction Literature Works in the Past Decade'.
TapTechNews learned from the official announcement that the participating works adopt a referral system, recommended by well-known domestic science fiction institutions and individuals to the contest. The recommended works enter the evaluation stage after passing the screening process.
For the works entering the evaluation stage, there will be preliminary rounds and finals. The jury committee will establish a preliminary round evaluation team and a final jury group respectively, among which the preliminary round evaluation team consists of science fiction writers, editors, personnel in the film and game industries, and people in the science fiction industry.
In the final stage, a total of 12 final jurors will be composed of the chairman, vice chairmen, and the chief juror. There are 8 chief jurors in the final, including the famous writers Xu Zechen and Wang Weilian, the famous science fiction writers Wang Jinkang, Han Song, and He Xi, the well-known Chinese science fiction scholar and writer Wu Yan, the deputy editor-in-chief of the Science Fiction World magazine, Yao Haijun, and the secretary-general of the China Film Directors' Association and the chairman of the Science Fiction Film Working Committee of the China Film Association, Wang Hongwei.
The final jury group conducts single-round voting and multiple-round vote counting through a ranked re-election system to evaluate the winning works of each project. At the same time, the possibility of leaving awards vacant is reserved. The contest results will be officially announced in October.
For the outstanding works emerging in the event, the organizing committee will actively assist and guide the development and transformation work of excellent science fiction works through building a transformation platform and providing support policies and other means to promote the overseas and domestic market expansion of various works.
