In recent days, we have noticed rumors on the Internet about Leapmotor plans to spin off the intelligent team to establish a subsidiary, hereby declare:

Leapmotor has no relevant plan to spin off the intelligent team. In order to increase the R & D capability and efficiency in the intelligent field, we have integrated and upgraded the relevant departments into 'Intelligent Technology Research Institute' this year, and continue to increase the investment in talents and funds in this field to build Leapmotor's long-term competitiveness in intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit.

We will continue to adhere to the full self-research of core technologies, and through technological innovation, create products with higher configuration, better quality, and good and inexpensive, bringing more happiness to users' travel and life.

According to TapTechNews' previous report, Leapmotor's revenue in the first half of 2024 was 8.845 billion yuan, an increase of 52.2% year-on-year, and the delivery exceeded 80,000 vehicles. However, the net loss attributable to equity holders of the company was 2.212 billion yuan, compared with a net loss of 2.276 billion yuan in the same period of the previous year, and the narrowing range was not obvious.

Leapmotor said that on the basis of the improvement of gross profit during the reporting period, while the loss did not narrow significantly, the main reason is that the company increased R & D investment in the first half of the year, especially in the second quarter, including the development of future new models and increased the development investment in intelligent driving technology.

Zhu Jiangming, the founder of Leapmotor, said in a conference call that it is expected that the overall R & D expense will increase by 50% this year.
