TSMC to Cut 6/7nm Prices in 2025 While Increasing 3/5nm Prices Next Year

TapTechNews July 10th news, according to sources in Taiwan, China, @mobilechip_master revealed that the capacity utilization rate of TSMC's 6/7nm is currently only 60%, so it decided to reduce the price by 10% starting from January 1, 2025.

The blogger also disclosed last Tuesday that TSMC's 3/5nm is preparing to increase the price from January 1 next year, among which the quotation for AI products will increase by 5%-10%, and that for non-AI products will increase by 0-5%.

Last month, Taiwan's Commercial Times reported that price increase news had begun to spread among TSMC's customers. As the world's seven major technology giants (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, and Google) have successively adopted TSMC's 3nm process, for example, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4, MediaTek Dimensity 9400, and Apple's A18 and M4 series will all be built with the N3 family. Among them, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 based on the N3E process has taken the lead in increasing the price, with a sharp increase of 25% compared to the previous generation's quotation, which is expected to exceed 250 US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 1821 Chinese yuan).
