The Groundbreaking 'Four Lines Through Connection' in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

TapTechNews July 10th news, spanning 5 cities including Guangzhou and Dongguan, the Guangfo South Ring and Foshan-Dongguan Intercity have officially started operation on May 26 this year, connecting end to end with the already opened Fozhao Intercity and Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity, achieving 'four lines through connection'.

The four lines with a total length of 258 kilometers (about 160.31 miles) connect 5 out of the 11 cities in the Greater Bay Area. Such a model of building a rail transit network based on urban agglomerations is the first of its kind in the whole country.

This line has suddenly become the longest intercity railway in Guangdong, passing through 5 cities including Zhaoqing, Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Huizhou. One of the highlights of this line is that it realizes public transportation-style operation throughout the line, and passengers can leave at any time without the need to buy tickets in advance, for details, see the previous report of TapTechNews.

The total GDP of the five cities along the line, Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, Dongguan, and Huizhou, exceeds 6 trillion yuan, and the regional resident population reaches 50 million. Currently, the Greater Bay Area is vigorously promoting the rail transit integration development model to give full play to the maximum efficiency of the railway network and build a city group and metropolitan area on the tracks.

The director of the National Railway Administration, Fei Dongbin, said today that on the basis of the pilot in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the coordinated promotion of a larger-scale 'four-network integration' pilot promotion work will be carried out.

This year, we have supported and guided the opening of the Guangfo South Ring and Foshan-Dongguan Intercity, and achieved 'four lines through connection' and public transportation-style operation with the Fozhao and Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity. At the same time, we have organized and established a working team with relevant departments in Guangdong Province, relevant enterprises and institutions, and industry associations, and jointly formulated a plan for promoting the 'four-network integration' of rail transit in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with Guangdong Province. Currently, it is being accelerated for implementation, and on this basis, a Chinese characteristic industry standard will be formed to guide the 'four-network integration' work across the country.
