TapTechNews May 19th news, iFixit has disassembled the 2024 13-inch Apple iPad Pro 256GB version, which is equipped with the 9-core version of the M4 chip and 8GB of memory.
Disassembly diagrams show that the 8GB memory version of the iPad Pro uses two memory chips with the silk-screened mark of Z8DMS, and TapTechNews learned from Micron's official website that the chip model is MT62F768M64D4AS-026XT:B.
The model shows that Micron's MT62F768M64D4AS-026XT:B is a 768 Mbit x 64 (48 Gbit), that is, a 6GB capacity memory chip. The material procurement website shows that this memory is of the LPDDR5-7500 specification and uses a VFBGA package.
This indicates that the 8GB memory version of the M4 iPad Pro actually carries 12GB memory chips, and it is not yet clear why Apple does this.
