It is known that the problem vehicle model certification application involves insufficient pedestrian and occupant protection test data for three mass-produced vehicle models (Corolla Fielder/Axio and Yaris Cross), as well as incorrect crash test and other test methods for four discontinued vehicle models (Crown, Isis, Sienta and RX).

Toyota apologized in the announcement and said that the relevant vehicles have passed thorough internal verification and there is no performance problem that violates laws and regulations. Therefore, there is no need to stop using the affected vehicles, but from now on, the delivery and sales of the three vehicle models currently produced in Japan will be temporarily stopped.

According to an earlier report by TapTechNews, on June 3, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan released the news that in view of the successive violations in the process of obtaining the model certification required for the mass production of automobiles and engines by companies such as Daihatsu Motor, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan instructed a total of 85 automobile production companies to investigate whether there is a similar situation. By the end of May, a total of five companies including Toyota, Mazda, Yamaha Motor, Honda R & D and Suzuki had fraudulently conducted vehicle performance tests, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan will investigate these five companies according to the Road Transport Vehicles Act.
