Samsung May Cancel Release of Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, Focus on Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6

TapTechNews May 13 news, it was previously rumored that Samsung would launch three Galaxy Z Fold 6 series foldable phones this year. In addition to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra with high-end configurations comparable to the Galaxy S series Ultra, there is also a highly anticipated affordable foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE.

However, according to the latest report from the South Korean technology media The Elec, users waiting for the Z Fold 6 FE may be disappointed. Samsung is currently conducting a comprehensive evaluation of the release plan for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, and the company may only launch the standard Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 at the Unpacked event in Paris in July, both of which are rumored to offer multiple color options. Since Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra was not mentioned in the report, Samsung may also abandon the release of this model.

It is worth noting that the report points out that Samsung has begun mass production of the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 this month. The Elec stated that the reason for the cancellation of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE release by Samsung may be due to the lack of differentiation of the product and market uncertainty.

TapTechNews noted that the report also mentioned that despite removing support for the SPen stylus to reduce costs, Samsung was still unable to achieve the expected thickness of the Z Fold 6 FE. It is reported that Samsung conducted folding tests on this affordable foldable phone to test its durability and added dust and water resistance features. However, Samsung found that the thickness of the Z Fold 6 FE did not match its Chinese competitors.

Samsung originally planned to launch a thinner and lighter Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE to compete with the Huawei Mate X3. In comparison, the thickness of the Huawei Mate X3 after folding is 11.8 millimeters, while the thickness of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 released last year after folding was 13.4 millimeters.

The report concludes that although Samsung may not launch the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE this year, it plans to add it to next year's product line.
