TapTechNews, June 3rd. AMD today launched the first batch of Ryzen 9000 series desktop processors. At the same time, the official released X870 and X870E chipsets and promised that the AM5 socket will be updated at least until 2027. TapTechNews readers don't have to worry about changing the motherboard for the time being.
The new 800-series X870 and X870E chipsets are compatible with the existing Ryzen 7000 and 8000 series processors. AMD promises to support USB4.0 on all X870 and X870E motherboards and support PCIe5.0 GPUs and NVMe.
The new chipsets also support faster AMD EXPO (DDR5 memory overclocking profiles) with a maximum speed of 8000 MT/s. The main difference between X870E and X870 is that the former has two chipsets and more interfaces.
AMD promises that the AM4 socket will be supported until 2025, and the AM5 socket will be supported at least until 2027.
