OpenAI to Take Measures to Stop API Use in Unsupported Regions

TapTechNews, June 25 - Today, API developers began to report on social media that they have received "warning letters" from OpenAI. The letters stated that additional measures will be taken to stop the use of APIs in regions not supported.

The letter reads, "According to the data, your organization has API traffic from regions that OpenAl currently does not support. As of July 9, we will take additional measures to stop the use of APIs from countries and regions not on the list of those supported by OpenAI." Affected organizations must access within the supported countries or regions if they wish to continue using OpenAI's services.

TapTechNews noticed that currently OpenAI's API has been opened to 161 countries and regions, but the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, China are not included. OpenAI had publicly issued an article "Preventing Malicious Use of Artificial Intelligence by State-Related Threat Actors" on February 14 this year, which mentioned that it has blocked and restricted the use from some users (including China, North Korea, Iran, Russia).
