Bugatti to Unveil New Hypercar with Hybrid V16 Engine

According to TapTechNews on June 5, Bugatti will launch a brand new hypercar, continuing the bloodline of Veyron and Chiron, while the latter has recently been discontinued. This yet-to-be-named model will make its world debut on June 20 and will be equipped with a brand new hybrid naturally aspirated V16 engine.

Bugatti describes this new car as the eternal symbol (French: Pourl’éternité), and Bugatti says the model has three pillars of aesthetics, luxury and performance, with a completely customized appearance.

TapTechNews noticed that the official teaser image shows the sculpted front engine cover and the iconic horseshoe-shaped grille. Previously leaked spy photos of the camouflaged prototype vehicle have revealed more details about the design of the new car. The new car seems to integrate elements of the previous models into a more streamlined body.

Bugatti states that the chassis of the new car will be completely redesigned, indicating that the model will not adopt the chassis architecture of Chiron, which is also used in rarer models such as Divo, Centodieci, LaVoitureNoire, Mistral, and Bolide. Notably, the four turbocharged W16 engine will give way to a new naturally aspirated V16 engine, supplemented by three electric motors.

Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, said that this fuel engine is nearly one meter long and remains in a mid-mounted layout. Choosing a naturally aspirated V16 engine instead of a comparably performing but more conventional turbocharged V8 engine is to maintain Bugatti's unique personality.

It is reported that the powertrain is jointly developed by Cosworth. Sources disclosed that the V16 engine has a displacement of 8.3 liters and can reach a maximum speed of 9000 rpm. Only the gasoline engine is expected to generate about 1000 hp (1014 PS) of power, and with a total of 340 hp (345 PS) from the three electric motors, the total output power reaches approximately 1800 hp (1825 PS). The power is expected to be transmitted to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It is reported that this supercar can accelerate from standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in just 2 seconds, to 200 kilometers per hour in less than 5 seconds, to 300 kilometers per hour in less than 10 seconds, and to 400 kilometers per hour in less than 25 seconds. Its performance will exceed that of its Chiron predecessor. Bugatti no longer pursues speed records, so the top speed may be limited to 445 kilometers per hour.
