Apple to Withhold Some Functions for EU Users in iOS18 and macOS Sequoia Release

TapTechNews June 21, local time on Friday, Apple announced: Due to regulatory issues, when its upcoming iOS18 and macOS Sequoia are released this autumn, EU users will not be able to use the Apple Intelligence, iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing functions. (Apple Intelligence is similar to Apple's intelligent assistant, iPhone Mirroring is the function of mirroring the iPhone screen to other devices, and SharePlay is a function for sharing the screen.)

This is quite a blow to Apple users in the EU, because these functions are exactly the most important upgrades announced at Apple's WWDC.

In addition, Apple stated in a statement to the Financial Times that due to regulatory issues related to DMA Act compliance, these functions will not be available to EU users this year. It is not yet clear what the specific requirements of the Digital Markets Act are, but Apple said in a statement that this will endanger privacy and security, and TapTechNews will continue to pay attention.
