Wuling Motors Unveils New SUV - Wuling Xingguang S with Multiple Power Options

TapTechNews June 17 news, Wuling Motors today released the teaser image of its new SUV - Wuling Xingguang S, showing the design of the vehicle's front and rear lights, indicating that the new model will be officially released soon.

TapTechNews noticed that Wuling Xingguang S will offer two power options: plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and pure electric (EV). According to the declaration information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the PHEV version will be equipped with two different capacity battery packs, which are 20.5 kilowatt-hours and 9.5 kilowatt-hours respectively, and the pure electric range can reach 90 kilometers and 43 kilometers respectively.

Wuling Xingguang S is a new SUV model after the Wuling Xingguang compact car. In terms of appearance, Wuling Xingguang S adopts a simple design language and split headlights. The PHEV version features a horizontal trim strip in the front bumper decoration, while the EV version adopts a mesh-like decoration.

In terms of size, the length, width and height of Wuling Xingguang S are 4745 / 1890 / 1680 (1685) millimeters respectively, and the wheelb ase is 2800 millimeters. The overall size is similar to that of BYD Song PLUS DM-i. Wuling Xingguang S also offers a variety of optional configurations, including sunroof, black roof, roof luggage rack and front radar, etc.

In terms of power, the Wuling Xingguang S PHEV version will be equipped with a hybrid system composed of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine and a motor, in which the maximum power of the 1.5-liter engine is 78 kilowatts, and the power of the motor has not been announced yet. The motor of the EV version has a maximum power of 150 kilowatts, adopts a single-motor drive, and is equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery.

Judging from the vehicle model positioning and body size, the main competitors of Wuling Xingguang S are BYD Song PLUS DM-i and BYD Yuan PLUS.
