According to TapTechNews, compared with the previous 18650 battery, the 21700 battery has higher energy density and capacity, which can extend the driving range of electric vehicles and improve efficiency. In addition, its design also optimizes cooling and packaging, improving battery performance and durability.

ForgeBattery said that its core technology lies in a ultra-thin nano-coating named AtomicArmor, which enables the battery to achieve higher energy density. Combined with the nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide (NMC811) positive electrode and the silicon oxide (SiOx) graphite composite negative electrode, Gen.1.1 Supercell not only has an energy density of 300 Wh/kg, but also can be fast-charged within 10 minutes without affecting the battery life. The battery has passed UN38.3 and UL1642 certifications and meets the highest transportation safety standards.

The company's vice president Barbara Hughes confidently stated that thanks to the higher silicon content and higher cycle voltage, the company's battery is expected to surpass the world's leading first-tier suppliers. Currently, ForgeBattery has signed agreements with multiple customers with an annual supply of several thousand GWh, and it is expected to deliver several thousand batteries in 2024. The company said that since announcing the plan to build a super factory in Morrisville, North Carolina in November 2023, it has received a total of 24 GWh/year of letters of intent. In addition, the company plans to start commercial production at the super factory in North Carolina in 2026, and 90% of the battery materials come from the United States.

This battery of ForgeBattery is suitable for various electric vehicles, including electric trucks, off-road vehicles, motorcycles, as well as the aerospace and defense fields. The company expects the battery life to reach or exceed the industry standard.
