Apple's VisionPro Headset High Panel Cost and Future Outlook

TapTechNews August 12th news, according to the report of Omdia research analysts, the cost of a single Micro-OLED panel currently used in Apple's VisionPro head-mounted display is $300 (about 2153 yuan at present), which means that in the $3500 price of VisionPro (Note: 29999 yuan in the Chinese mainland) the two display panels for the left and right eyes together account for $600 (TapTechNews note: about 4305 yuan at present) in cost.

Analysts said that although the price of the related Micro-OLED panels is high, as time goes by, the prices of these panels will gradually come down. It is expected that the cost of a single panel will drop to $250 next year (2025), and by the following year (2026), the price will drop to $210, a 30% reduction compared to the current price of $300 per panel.

In addition, analysts mentioned that currently only Sony can manufacture Micro-OLED panels that meet the requirements of Apple's VisionPro. But as more panel suppliers enter the supply chain in the next few years, Apple can bargain with them to further reduce the panel cost, which will also benefit Apple in launching an affordable version of the Vision head-mounted display in the future.
