Shanghai Launches Ultra-High Definition Capacity Building Plan

According to TapTechNews, this promotion plan is jointly guided and supported by the National Radio and Television Administration, the Shanghai Radio and Television Bureau, the Shanghai Communication Administration, China Radio and Television Network Corporation, and the China Radio, Television and Film Design Institute, etc., and is promoted and implemented by Shanghai Radio and Television, etc.

According to the plan, in the aspect of ultra-high definition channel construction, Shanghai will implement the 'Forging Project of the Leading Platform of Mainstream Media', and accelerate the construction of the 4K ultra-high definition comprehensive channel of Dragon TV and support the channel to achieve the production and broadcasting capacity of adding 4 hours of 4K ultra-high definition program content every day.

In the aspect of ultra-high definition network transformation, Shanghai will accelerate the upgrading and transformation of the fiber-optic and IP of the radio and television network. It is planned to complete the fiber-optic network transformation of 8 million households in the whole city within 2 to 3 years to realize the optical network access capacity covering the whole Shanghai. Implement the household action of 4K ultra-high definition set-top box to fully support the popularization and application of 4K ultra-high definition video.

In the aspect of ultra-high definition content creation, Shanghai will focus on variety shows, films and TV, documentaries and humanities, sports events, urban historical image records and urban life services, etc. Benchmarking against the highest international level, giving full play to the advantages of high-tech audio-visual technologies, and creating a highland of ultra-high definition content creation in China.
