Beijing Publishes Action Plan for Developing Low-Altitude Economy

TapTechNews reported on May 16 that the Beijing Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology solicited public opinions on the 'Action Plan for Promoting High-Quality Development of Low-Altitude Economy Industry in Beijing (2024-2027) (Draft for Soliciting Opinions)' that was released on May 15.

The plan pointed out that Beijing has unique resources and basic conditions for the development of low-altitude economy, with inherent advantages and huge potential. The prospects for promoting the development of low-altitude economy are bright and significant.

On the premise of ensuring safety, strive to achieve the following goals within three years: the number of enterprises related to low-altitude economy surpasses 5,000, low-altitude technical services cover the whole country, the international and domestic influence and brand recognition of low-altitude industries greatly increase, significant results are achieved in the cluster development of industries, the low-altitude industry system becomes more robust, and becomes a national leader and demonstration example in areas such as technological innovation, standard policies, application needs, and security countermeasures, driving the city's economic growth by over 100 billion yuan.

The plan proposed a series of key tasks, including:

Relying on the concentration of resources in Beijing for scientific and technological innovation and demand, support the introduction and cultivation of advanced integrated manufacturing projects such as drones, eVTOL, flying cars, and new energy general aviation platforms in various districts, cultivate leading enterprises and branded products in the integrated manufacturing sector.

In terms of emergency rescue, accelerate the construction of the Fangshan base, promote the application of general aviation in emergency communication, fire fighting, patrol inspections, and other fields throughout the city. In terms of logistics and distribution, rely on the opening of the northwest logistics branch line at the Badaling Airport in Yanqing to establish a new model of unmanned aerial vehicle + public transportation logistics distribution.

For intercity commuting, establish commuter routes between Daxing Airport and Xiongan New Area, Capital Airport and Tianjin, Langfang and other regions, explore new business models such as intercity commuting by split-type flying cars + intra-city shuttle services. In terms of unique cultural tourism, develop low-altitude tourism, flight experiences, and other industries in districts such as Yanqing, Pinggu, and Miyun.
