TapTechNews July 14th news, Zhang Zhuo, general manager of BYD Ocean Network Sales Division, announced on Weibo today that the new BYD Song PLUS DM-i will be released together with the Song L DM-i under the Dynasty Network at the end of this month. The new Song PLUS DM-i will be equipped with BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. Currently, the price of the Song PLUS DM-i Glory Edition on sale ranges from 129,800 to 169,800 yuan ($18,600 to $24,200).

TapTechNews noticed that the new Song PLUS DM-i has already been declared in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The appearance is basically the same as the current model, and the rear logo is changed from BUILDYOURDREAMS to BYD. The body size remains unchanged, with length, width and height of 4775/1890/1670 millimeters (188/74/66 inches) respectively, and the wheelbase is 2765 millimeters (109 inches), positioned as a compact SUV. In terms of configuration, the car is equipped with 19-inch rims, panoramic sunroof and roof rack.

In terms of power, the new Song PLUS DM-i adopts the fifth-generation DM hybrid technology. The 1.5-liter engine has a maximum power of 74 kilowatts (100 horsepower), and the maximum power of the drive motor is 160 kilowatts (215 horsepower). Compared with the current model, the engine power is reduced by 7 kilowatts (10 horsepower), and the maximum power of the drive motor is increased by 15 kilowatts (20 horsepower).

The new Song PLUS DM-i is expected to be equipped with lithium iron phosphate batteries of 12.96 kWh, 18.316 kWh and 26.593 kWh. The pure electric cruising range under the WLTC condition is 60 kilometers (37 miles), 91 kilometers (57 miles) and 128 kilometers (80 miles) respectively, which is 5 kilometers (3 miles), 6 kilometers (4 miles) and 12 kilometers (7 miles) higher than the current model. The fuel consumption per 100 kilometers of different cruising range models under the WLTC condition is 4.93 liters (1.29 gallons), 4.95 liters (1.3 gallons) and 4.98 liters (1.32 gallons), which is 0.47 liters (0.12 gallons), 0.35 liters (0.09 gallons) and 0.42 liters (0.11 gallons) lower than the current model.

In addition, Zhang Zhuo also disclosed that the current and old versions of the Song PLUS DM-i will gradually receive a new version of OTA upgrade around August, but the specific upgrade information has not been announced.

The BYD Song PLUS DM-i is positioned as a compact SUV, and its competitors include Geely Galaxy L7 and Haval Xiaolong. According to the sales data, the Song PLUS DM-i has accumulated more than 119,000 units in the past six months, second only to the Song Pro DM-i under the BYD Dynasty Network in the same-level plug-in hybrid models, and significantly ahead of the third-place Galaxy L7.
